MORE DIALYSIS
Yesterday Keith and i went for my clinic visit to Kamloops. There the nurses discussed with us how the dialysis is going and how i am feeling now. I still feel pretty gross and tired so they decided to up my dialysis to dinner time( i leave it in for four hours and then i empty myself , immediately fill myself up again before bedtime). When i wake up in the morning, preferably 12 hours later or at least 8 hours later i may empty myself. Then a remain EMPTY until dinner time.
I have not been sleeping well at night for quite some time but last night i am happy to say i slept like a baby!!! Praise the Lord!!
The nurse looked at all of my blood work and said that everything looks good! Another thing to be very thankful for! They also said that my kidney function was at 9. When they say nine, that is out of 80. So my kidney is functioning roughly at 8%.
The exit site for my catheter is a little red so they took a swab of it and we should know by Friday if there is an infection or not. We are praying that it is just red from a little agitation.I do not have a temperature and it is not tender to the touch so those are good signs that it is not an infection. They are just making sure that it is not!
Until next time thank again for all of your thoughts and prayers!

ON DIALYSIS
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Keith and i attended our course at the Kamloops Hospital, on administering dialysis at home.
On Tuesday they filled me up with 2 litres of solution and when we were standing looking at a picture on the wall showing us where all this fluid was going in me, (the peritoneal cavity) i suddenly felt light headed and said that i needed to sit down because i was not feeling to good. The nurse said that she was going to get a stretcher for me.When i sat down i suddenly felt sick to my stomach and i felt like i was going to pass out.
Keith said suddenly the room was full of nurses and within seconds a little nurse had picked my whole body up and i was on the stretcher. I must have passed out! When i woke up i realised that i was hyperventilating they put an oxygen mask on my face. They checked a lot more things out on me very quickly and realised that i was going to be OK. The specialist had said that i went into shock from all of the fluid being in my body( My body was not used to it). She reassured me that this would be a one time thing and that all of my vitals were good. Some people do get this, she compared it to when some people see blood they pass out, well this was the same kind of thing. As this all happened the nurse had quickly drained all of the solution out of my body.
When i felt up to it about 10 minutes later they put another 2 liters of solution into me and we waited for about ten minutes to see how i would feel and i was absolutely fine. (The doctor was right it never happened again!)
All in all the past 3 days, (we were suppose to have 4 days of training but because there was a large section that we did not have to go through because i was going to be on this for short term we only had to go for three days). I was very thankful for this as my body was so tired as well as my mind! There was a lot of info for us to learn in a short period of time.
The nurses were all very polite and they sure made this adventure a pleasant one! We are very thankful that i am now able to do this dialysis at home. I fill myself with the solution before i go to bed and when i wake up in the morning i drain myself.( the solution has to stay in me for 12 hours but can stay in for up to 16 hours if i need it to!) We pray that it will grant me more strength in preparation for my transplant and that i do not get any infections or any other illnesses before my surgery date.
SURGERY DATE!!!!!!!!!!
I got a phone call on Wednesday on the way to the hospital for my course that my surgery date has been booked! It is scheduled for March 18, 2015 in the morning!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! We pray that my health will not be compromised in the next two months and that all will fall into place for this to happen!
The Lord knows what is needed and when it is needed and we place our trust in Him alone!
Psalm 91:1-2 "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust."
THE POWER OF PRAYER!
Thank you all for your prayers! I feel like i am walking on a cloud and the Lord is caring me every stepof the way! We hope that you are all doing well and we ask for your continued prayers!Take-care and may God bless each and everyone of you!

MORE FLUSHING
For the last two Tuesday's Keith and i have gone to Kamloops to get my catheter flushed, change my bandages and have a found of dialysis. It has gone well and we thanks God for this and also for His travelling mercies.
At one of these visits the nurse informed us that i would only need to have my dialysis while i sleep! We are very thankful for this news! That means that i fill my abdomen before i go to bed and empty it in the morning. ( the fluid can remain in me for up to 12 hours.)
Next week Keith and i will be going to Kamloops Hospital from Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm to learn how to administer my dialysis to me. (as of Friday the 23 we will be administering it to me at home.) We ask that you pray for travelling mercies and complete understanding of this process.
PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."
The Lord has heard all of our prayers and found me a KIDNEY MATCH!!!
A great friend of mine, Rona Kuit tried to be a match for me but she was unsuccessful. She then decided to go on the paired exchange and was found to be healthy enough for this. The Lord found a match for her kidney, which she will donate to a total stranger and therefore in turn they have found a match for me from another perfect stranger!
If all things go well Rona and myself will be having our surgeries on March 18 or 19, 2015!
Keith and i are trusting that the Lord will continue to guide us , keep us and bless us and that not a hair can fall from our heads without His will!
Thank you all for your prayers and kind words.
Love from Keith and Bonita.

FLUSHING
On December 30th Keith and i headed to Kamloops again to get my catheter flushed out and my bandages changed. I also got a round of dialysis done on me again. It all went well even though i still had a lot of pain while the fluid was draining out of me.
We found out that when i have been on Peritoneal Dialysis for about 4 weeks that there is another avenue that we can take.(As long as all goes well!) I will be able to have my dialysis while i am sleeping. Anywhere from 8 hours to 12 hours long.Keith and i will need to take another 2 day course to show us how this all works and this course is also in Kamloops hospital. This means that i will be free all day long from dialysis and with the help of this machine i will have dialysis while i sleep!
We go again to Kamloops Hospital next Tuesday January the 6th for a bandage change, flushing of my catheter and another round of dialysis
It is our prayer that the Lord will continue to grant me healing and that every thing may go well with my treatments!

MY OPERATION!
On December 15th i had my operation to place my catheter in my abdomen cavity. The surgery went well and i started my recuperation. I am given more than 4 weeks to recover.
DIALYSIS!
Every 7 days after my operation Keith and i go to Kamloops hospital so that i can get my catheter flushed out. I went on Tuesday December the 23, 2014 and had it flushed out and my bandages were changed around my incision. They also did dialysis on me!!! They only put half of the solution into my abdomen area, left it in for a few minutes and then drained it out again. The solution going into me was ok and actually it did not bother me at all. The emptying of the solution was another story. Boy did that hurt near the end!!! When it started draining i was sitting on the bed, she suggested that i let my legs hang over the edge of the bed but that did not help the pain at all so she suggested that i stand up. I did and it helped a little. The nurse then weighed both of the bags to see it it was all accounted for, there was still 100 ml left to be emptied out of me. I then had to put all of my weight on my left foot and then switch it to my right foot and continue rotating my weight on my feet,. Shortly afterward it was all done! The nurse reassured me that it would only hurt for the first little while. As time goes my body would get used to the empty feeling. All in all Keith and i are amazed at the technology that the Lord has allowed to be done here on this earth!
I get this done every week until January 20, 2015. On January 20, 2015 Keith and i have a four day course in Kamloops hospital to show us step by step how to administer this Peritoneal Dialysis ourselves at home.
The Lord has given us both the patience and has given me healing day by day, in which we are very grateful! We ask that you continue to pray for full healing for me, and that we will adjust to this new way of living in the future. Most of all we ask that you pray for the Lord to find a kidney match for me and that in His time i may have a kidney transplant!
At this time we would also like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and may the Lord bless and guide each and everyone of you in 2015!
We love you all and thank you for your love and prayers!

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7)
Hello everyone and welcome to my Blog!!
I decided to start a blog so that it makes it easier to share up to date information with you all without forgetting who we told what to.
In the past year my health has been steadily declining and I am at the point of needing dialysis. I was scheduled to have surgery to place a catheter in my stomach on November 5 but it was cancelled due to a family emergency with the surgeon. I was then referred to a new doctor and our prayers have been heard; a new date has been set for December 15!
After my surgery takes place I will have 4 weeks to recover and then Keith and I will go to Kamloops for a 4 day course learning how to administer "peritoneal dialysis." From then on I should be able to take my treatments at home myself. I ask that you please continue to pray for me and my family as we deal with this new way of life. We also ask you to pray that a suitable donor may be found, we are so thankful that dialysis is an option but still hope and pray that a kidney transplant becomes available.
Thank you so much for sharing your time and may the Lord bless you and your families!
